Jurassic Park in Texas

Looking for something to do near Bastrop? Or, a quick day trip from Austin? Do your kiddos really love dinosaurs or Jurassic Park?

An irresistible photo op at the entrance of the Dinosaur trail. Welcoming you are two brontosaurus' at the Dinosaur Park in Cedar Creek Texas.

The entrance to the Dinosaur Trail

At the time I found this dinosaur park. I was living in my RV in Cedar Creek, TX. Always on the hunt for something fun for me and (at the time) Eden, this dinosaur park (with Jurassic Park jeeps) happened to be right next to the RV park we were staying at!

They had both Jurassic Park Jeep models there!

There are a lot of kid-friendly activities to keep them occupied for hours. Some of the kid activities include dinosaur dig, a small playground, the dinosaur trail, dinosaur exhibit, i-spy-a-Saurus (as you walk through the dinosaur trail). I would recommend bringing snacks or lunch depending on if you want to eat there or, you can head into Bastrop later for something to eat.

In the dino store, they have picture opportunities, toys to buy, and plenty of restrooms stocked with all the things needed for kids.

After you grab your wristbands (adults $11, Ages 2-12 $10) you can go walk around the dinosaur park or start off by playing on the playground or the dinosaur dig is there when you first walk out after getting your wristbands.

The gravel trail to see the dinosaurs is a half-mile long. You can rent a wagon to pull the kiddos along for $1 if you want. Make sure you snag that while buying your wristbands.

Lots of little shops in this district

Your wristband buys you more perks than just access to the dinosaur park, you also get discounts from some of the restaurants in Bastrop. We went to Neighbors Kitchen & Yard. It’s an absolutely beautiful spot right on the Colorado river with multiple shops all in one area, and the food was delicious! Bonus: there are a few caches in the yard while you wait!

Have you been to Bastrop Texas before? What are some of your favorite spots?

About the author

Hey, y’all my name is Kassandra and I’m a mama to 4, road-trip/hiking obsessed, herbal medicine enthusiast who specializes in nothing (well, I am a hairstylist so I do specialize in hair lol) but is interested in everything.

Most of all, planning, taking and sharing travel/road trip ideas. Encouraging folks to do the “I wish I could do that” thing. One of my favorite messages to get is “I saw your post and tried it”.

So I keep sharing. When I’m not traveling, I sate my wanderlust by cooking, planning more trips, working on my Airbnb, converting a bus to an RV, designing products (multi-passionate entrepreneur here), and regaling past adventures to share with y’all!
