The Elephant Preserve -Fredricksburg, Texas

Get up close and personal with Elephants while helping to support them in Fredricksburg, Texas.

It seems strange to learn that there is an elephant preserve in Texas, of all places. I was so excited to learn there was, though! I stumbled on this place looking for an experience for my birthday. The purpose of the preserve is to bring awareness to the elephant’s native habitat being under constant threat. For example, one of the elephants we visited had a prosthetic and would not survive in the wild without care from the preserve.

During the elephant experience, they show how incredibly smart elephants are and explain and demonstrate all the things that go into the daily care of the elephants. Their daily habits, grooming, and how much they eat! Allowing guests to visit the preserve helps to fund the animals in all the ways so they can live a long relaxing life.

Along with learning about all the care that goes into making sure the elephants are comfortable and happy, we enjoyed a demonstration of how they paint and play games. They even played the harmonica while wishing me a happy birthday! We also purchased a painting one of the elephants created to support the preserve further. In addition, there is a complete gift shop where you can buy memorabilia.

As the preserve is near Fredricksburg, I encourage you to take time and visit the artsy beauty of the town. Fredricksburg is also known for its broad selection of wineries!

Find all the booking information on The Preserves website. I hope you enjoy your experience as much as I did!

I’m all about planning, taking, and sharing epic travel and road trip adventures. There’s nothing I love more than inspiring people to take that “I wish I could do that” leap. One of my favorite messages to receive is, “I saw your post and gave it a try!” That’s what keeps me going and sharing.

When I’m not on the road, you’ll find me calming my wanderlust by cooking, plotting my next getaway, managing my Airbnb, cleaning the camper, or designing unique products as a multi-passionate entrepreneur. Of course, I also love reminiscing about past adventures and sharing those stories with y’all!

Let’s explore the world together—one adventure at a time.
