Day trip to Enchanted Rock

I often get the out-of-nowhere urge to go somewhere.

On this day, it was Enchanted Rock. A massive pink granite dome near the beautiful German town, Fredericksburg.

From the north Austin area it is just under a 2 hour drive.

Going in late October, we couldn’t have asked for better weather. Not too hot or cold for the steep hike to the summit of the granite.

It’s steeper than it looks!

At the time, we didn’t need a reservation, but nowadays, I would definitely check before going.

At the top, the view is AMAZING! If you don’t hike all the way to the top, you’re really missing out. It’s windy with pools of water scattered all around, and if you search a little bit, you’ll find a cave to explore.

Pack a picnic, hang out for the day, or head into Fredericksburg for winery tours and good food.

It’s definitely a must-see when visiting the Austin area!

About the author

Hey, y’all my name is Kassandra and I’m a mama to 4, road-trip/hiking obsessed, herbal medicine enthusiast who specializes in nothing (well, I am a hairstylist so I do specialize in hair lol) but is interested in everything.

Most of all, planning, taking and sharing travel/road trip ideas. Encouraging folks to do the “I wish I could do that” thing. One of my favorite messages to get is “I saw your post and tried it”.

So I keep sharing. When I’m not traveling, I sate my wanderlust by cooking, planning more trips, working on my Airbnb, converting a bus to an RV, designing products (multi-passionate entrepreneur here), and regaling past adventures to share with y’all!
